Varnish
Mixing |
Epoxy resin and other chemical components are mixed to make varnish. |
Treating
(Impregnation) |
Varnish coats the glass fabric, passing through hot treating zones for curing. The semi-cured product is called prepreg. |
Prepreg
Ply-up |
Prepreg can be sold to PCB makers multilayer board fabrication, or cut and plied-up in-house for laminate manufacturing. |
Book
Forming |
Cut and plied-up prepregs are stacked together with copper foils to form "books". Steel plates are used as separators for these stacked piles. |
Laminate
Pressing |
These "books" are placed inside the press under high pressure, heat and in a vacuum. Prepreg melts and bonds together with copper foils to form fully cured laminates. |

Debook
and
Edge Trim |
Laminates (copper+prepregs+copper) are separated from the steel separator plates, then the excess edges are cut away. |

Test
and
